Mindfulness in Prisons in Colombia

Updated: Jan 11, 2022

In late January, Engaged Mindfulness Institute founder Fleet Maull traveled to Colombia to help launch the Path of Freedom program in local facilities, as well as spread awareness throughout the country. The Path of Freedom is our mindfulness-based emotional intelligence curriculum developed for prisoners and is part of our larger mission to help transformation of the criminal justice system.

Here is Fleet with the POF Colombia Team:

Sarah, Fleet, Ana Maria, Monica and Lorena outside of La Picota prison in Bogota.

They spent time at La Picota Prison, where they visited a therapeutic community program for men dealing with addiction.

They also visited a university in Manizales, where they presented a lecture on the Path of Freedom to students.

Then there was another presentation at the University of Caldas in Medellin.

They also visited a prison in Manizales where a POF program is just starting up.

All in all, it was a very successful trip! Thank you to Fleet and the POF Colombia Team!
