Vita Pires-Crisp, E.D.
Vita has been the Executive Director of the Prison Mindfulness & Engaged Mindfulness Institutes since 1999. She is a certified mindfulness and yoga teacher and is working on her Ph.D. dissertation in her spare time.
Sheila is a graduate of our MTT500 teacher training.
Lisa holds a Master’s degree in both Clinical Psychology and Fine Arts. Her experience has included counseling and teaching art in clinical settings and creating public art projects with at-risk groups. She has worked for organizations serving the homeless and mentally ill, as well as families affected by HIV. She later transitioned into teaching in universities as well as leading meditation and “dharma art” workshops across the country.
Tiffany found her way to mindfulness and meditation in 2012 after graduating with her Master’s of Science from Georgia Institute of Technology. Despite achieving all markers of success in both her career and personal life, she discovered happiness wasn’t just waiting at the end of the success tunnel. It was through the practices of mindfulness and meditation that Tiffany feels she found a deep and lasting connection to wholeness, presence, compassion, and peace.
Steve has been practicing and studying meditation and the Buddhist path for four decades, and has been teaching in those traditions for nearly 30 years. Steve has his own design firm, Fresh Space Studio in Boulder, Colorado where he lives with his wife Jane.
Jim is a clinically trained and licensed independent clinical social worker (LICSW). After several years of administering all homeless services for veterans throughout the states of Vermont and New Hampshire for the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, he now coordinates Veterans Justice Outreach Services in the Vermont prison system. Jim has trained extensively in Zen Buddhism and is a dharma teacher in the Zen Peacemaker Order.
John is an IMTA certified professional mindfulness teacher and graduate of our MTT500, as well as a 35+ year mindfulness practitioner and teacher for over 20 years.
Melissa graduated from UMass Amherst in 2015 with a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology. She comes to PMI with no formal Mindfulness training, but is happily learning all she can while being here.
Danielle comes to EMI from her former work in the nonprofit organization Inward Bound Mindfulness Education (iBme). Prior to working in the mindfulness field, she worked for nearly a decade in a veterinary hospital. She has been a Buddhist practitioner for over a decade and is a member of the Dharma Punx community.
