About Windhorse Hill Retreat Center
The Dojo is located at Windhorse Hill Retreat Center, a serene and private 18-acre retreat-like setting nestled on a hillside adjacent to 45 acres of protected conservation land. The farm is ten minutes from Greenfield and Old Deerfield, and just 25 minutes from Amherst and Northampton.
Old Deerfield is just over the Pocumtuck Ridge behind the Center. We are located on a Scenic Bikeway that runs past the Center along the Connecticut River. We are in the heart of the fertile Pioneer Valley (also known as the “Happy Valley”) which is rich with organic farmlands, flowing rivers, and green mountains.
The Five College Consortium, composed of Amherst College, Hampshire College, Mount Holyoke College, Smith College, and the University of Massachusetts, enriches the area with many cultural, educational and artistic events.
On-Site Housing:
We have 3 shared rooms, each with 2 twin beds, which share a bathroom equipped with a shower. We provide bedding, pillows, and a towel. The cost per bed is $65 per person, per night.
We can also accommodate four people on the floor of the meditation hall for $25 per person, per night. Sleeping bags/bedding are not provided and all belongings will need to be removed each morning, prior to the start of the program activities, and set-up again once the program ends for the day.
Camping in the yard may also be permitted with permission.
***On-site housing is limited and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Driving Directions
From I-91 South
If you are heading north on I-91, take exit 24 (Deerfield) and turn right at end of the ramp. At the four-way intersection and traffic light, turn right onto Route 116 (towards Sunderland/Amherst). Go 1.4 miles, passing through one traffic light. About 0.2 miles after the light, turn left onto River Road just before the blue bridge that crosses the Connecticut River. Continue north for six miles along River Rd.
Windhorse Hill Retreat Center is at 595 B River Road on the left side. Continue up the long driveway past the white farmhouse and barn to the road up the hill. At the top of the hill, the Dojo is on the left, parking is on the right.
Retreat Meals
Special Diet Requests
Meals are primarily organic, locally-sourced, and vegetarian. A vegetarian option will always be provided in the case that a meat dish is served. If you have medically necessary dietary restrictions, such as a strict glute, or lactose-intolerance, we ask that you bring your own food to supplement. We will have gluten-free and lactose-free options available at breakfast and a limited supply of other gluten-free items at other meals. A medically diagnosed allergy to seafood or nuts requires that you inform us and carry your own rescue medication (EpiPen, etc).
We regret we are not able to prepare special meals for individuals or provide refrigerated food storage in the kitchen. There are extra coolers if you bring items that need to be stored on ice.
