Robert Maull Scholarship Fund
The Robert Maull Scholarship Fund provides scholarships to the children of incarcerated citizens with an emphasis on those who aspire to a career in the culinary arts. My son, Robert Maull died unexpectedly on September 14, 2021 at the age of 44 as a result of an epileptic seizure at his home in Rumichaca, Peru. Robert had worked in the restaurant industry his entire adult life, mostly in the United States. He started bussing tables while attending high school in Peru. In the U.S. he worked in fine dining establishments as a server, sommelier, general manager and executive chef. Robert attended Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island, receiving his culinary arts degree there in 2014.
Robert was 9 years old when I went to prison and lived in Peru with his mother Lola until returning to the U.S. at the age of 19 two years prior to my release. in 1999. Though I did my best to be involved in Robert's life at a distance, one can only imagine the impact my incarceration and absence had on his life during those formative years
Robert's mom and I would like to honor Robert by creating the Robert Maull Scholarship Fund to support other young people who are doing their best to move forward in life, just as Robert did, while one or both parents are in prison.
Our intention is to partner with Johnson & Wales University in offering scholarships, so that they will be competitive scholarships designated for aspiring students with one or both of their parents currently incarcerated.
Please consider making a generous gift at this time in Robert's memory and in support of promising students who are doing their best despite the impact of one or both parents being incarcerated.
